The Prayer of Blessing

Matthew 6:9-13

 

The People God Blesses

 

1.        God blesses people who seek His Kingdom

 

“Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well!”  (Matthew 6:33, NIV)

 

“… He will give them to you if you give him first place in your life.” (Matthew 6:33, LB)

 

God wants first place in my …

F              Finances              (Proverbs 3:5-6)

I               Interests              (1 Corinthians 10:31)

R             Relationships     (2 Corinthians 6:14)

S              Schedule             (Psalm 90:10)

T              Troubles              (Psalm 50:15)

 

2.        God blesses people who depend on His power

 

“You bless all who depend on your for their strength.” (Psalm 84:5a, CEV)

 

“Those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.” (Galatians 3:9, NIV)

I express my faith in God when …

 

·         I take risk to grow and obey

 

“I will bless the person who puts his trust in me.” (Jeremiah 17:7, TEV)

 

·         I don’t give up  when discouraged or afraid

 

“God will bless you, if you don’t give up when your faith is being tested.  He will reward you with a glorious life.” (James 1:12, CEV)

 

 

3.        God blesses people who live for His Glory

 

“God will bless everyone who honors him.” (Psalm 115:13, TEV)

 

                I live for God’s glory …

 

·         By using my abilities to help other believers

“God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other … so God will be glorified.” (1 Peter 4:10-11a, TLB)

 

“The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others will be helped.” (Proverbs 11:25, The Message)

 

“Warmly welcome each other into the church, just as Christ has warmly welcomed you; then God will be glorified.”

“I do everything I can to win everyone I possibly can.  I do this for the good news, because I want to share in its blessings.” (1 Corinthians 9:22-23, CEV)
