TODAY’S MESSAGE:
Bringing Out the Best
In Your Children
Proverbs 22:6
What to Do
1.
Accept their uniqueness
“God works through different people in different ways.” (1 Corinthians 12:6)
“Each person should judge his own actions and not compare himself to others and then he can be proud for what he himself has done.”
“Love does not demand its own way.” (1 Corinthians 13:5)
“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:5)
2.
Trust them with responsibility
“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” (Luke 16:10)
3.
Expect the best
4. Affirm their value
“You made my whole being. You formed me in my mother’s body. I praise You because You made me in an amazing and wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful.” (Psalm 130:13-14)
Affirming
Value
1.
By showing attention
2.
By giving affection
3.
By expressing appreciation
5.
Correct without condemning
“The Lord disciplines those He loves.”
“If you refuse to discipline your own son it proves you don’t love him.” (Proverbs 13:24)
“Correct your children while there is still hope. Do not let them destroy themselves.” (Proverbs 19:18)
How do we do
that?
· Never correct in anger – “Don’t keep on scolding and nagging your children making them angry and resentful. Rather bring them up with loving discipline that the Lord Himself approves when suggestions and godly advice.” (Ephesians 6:4)
· Watch your words – “Don’t use harmful words. Use only helpful words. The kind that build up.” (Eph. 4:29)
6.
Never give up on them
“Love knows no limits to its endurance, no end to its trust, no fading of its hope. It can outlast anything.” (1 Cor. 13:7)
“As
a father has compassion on his children so the Lord has
compassion on those who reverence Him.” (Psalm 103:13)
