Focus: Luke 8:23 And He was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 "For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it.

 

 

 

3 OBSERVATIONS ABOUT JESUS BEARING THE CROSSS AND LIVING A MARTYR-LIFE

 

 

1.  Jesus carried the cross       by necessity                 .

Luke 13: 32 And He said to them, "Go and tell that fox (Herod), `Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I reach My goal.' 33 "Nevertheless I must journey on today and tomorrow and the next day; for it cannot be that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem.

 

 

2.  Jesus put martyrdom     in perspective                    .

v24 "For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it.

 

 

3.  Jesus lived a martyr-life

and received       great glory           .      

v35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!"

 

·         Be filled with the Spirit

·         Love God

·         Speak the truth

·         Do the will of the Father

 

 

Live the Martyr-Life!
